PSO and Ninth Wave unveil PAT Solution at Best Practice Showcase

PSO, the long established PRINCE2 training provider, are pleased to announce their alliance with Ninth Wave, a leading provider of project, programme and knowledge management solutions. This will offer a comprehensive service, covering training and consultancy, together with one of the most advanced programme and project support solutions for project and programme environments – including those using PRINCE2. This powerful service is based on Ninth Wave’s Project Assistant Toolkit solution (PAT). PAT helps to roll out processes and improve practices within a project or programme office by allowing project teams, managers and third party suppliers to communicate more effectively, especially in a distributed environment.

At this Showcase, Ninth Wave will be promoting a ‘fast start’ packaged installation of PAT, complete with a free PAT consultancy and training workshop.

The PAT solution for PRINCE2 is designed to extend the flexibility and capabilities of PRINCE2. The solution will enable PRINCE2 users to:

  • Replace paper based templates and documents

  • Manage process through effective workflow

  • Enhance control and governance by tracking ownership and authorisation, meeting and action management

  • Collaborate within or outside a team via the intranet and internet

  • Ensure high visibility for key products in a secure environment

  • Provide timely, on-line MIS and summary data for management

  • Instantly report on status, ownership and history of any product

  • Maintain a full audit of changes, notes and comments for all products and deliverables

  • Convey the appropriate information to multiple audiences using customised pages

  • Integrate document management, email and project plans

  • Search across the entire database and attached documents

  • Consolidate data and processes in the project office

  • Adapt the methodology to exact user requirements

Ninth Wave will also demonstrate PAT applications for programme and portfolio management, help desks, resource management and inventory management.

Andrew Snowdon, Director at Ninth Wave stated: “We are very pleased to be able to team up with PSO. The power and flexibility of PAT complements the PRINCE2 methodology and enables users to implement process selectively. With the strength of experience of Ninth Wave in Project and Programme Management, and PSO’s unparalleled professionalism in the training and application of PRINCE2 and programme management, the effect is to create a “one stop shop” for training, tools and service. There is no excuse for poor governance, patchy implementation of process, lack of data sharing, costly tools, impractical solutions, burdensome administration, alienated project managers or poor project offices.”

About Ninth Wave

Since 1995, Ninth Wave have used their extensive experience in Programme and IT Management to build a thriving and successful consultancy. After many years spent struggling with second-rate tools, they decided to set-up their own software division to produce the ultimate tool. In early 2000, they selected an elite team of developers to create a new generation, collaborative knowledge management tool - PAT.

PAT is a web-based, highly adaptive platform allowing distributed users to collaborate and share both information and process in a controlled knowledge management environment.

What would be your idea of the perfect tool?

  • The ability to deploy instantly without requiring any client-end software

  • The ability to present your data in range of rich presentation formats including lists, diaries, calendars, planners, Gantt charts, dashboards, scorecards, grids, timesheets and graphs

  • The ability to switch between summary and detailed data

  • The ability to inter-communicate with common office applications but also to hold your own data

  • The ability to change and extend data structures at will, even while the system is in use

  • The ability to link any data together and annotate any record at the touch of a button

  • The ability to carry out either general or contextual searches when you can't remember where you put that document, deliverable or budget

  • The ability to allow groups or individuals to create personalised views and security
This is what PAT can give you – today. PAT makes all other tools on the market look primitive. For example, the programme management template includes document management, Microsoft® Project and email integration, timesheets, task, resource, dependency, deliverable, action, issue, risk, budget and approval processes. In the CIO dashboard dynamic maps can display critical issues, portfolio measures and RAG statuses worldwide, whilst allowing users to drill right down into an individual task or report.

If users want to adapt their own processes within, for example, a PRINCE2 framework, PAT enables evolutionary deployment and can be configured to support all major methodologies.
